twitterfacebookrss LUXURY YACHTS → The $5 Million Per Month ‘TV’ Megayacht Charter

11 th April 2011

Right now if you have endless amounts of money to burn then you need to look at owning a yacht or should own one. These things are completely insane and you are not a major player on the scene until you own one of these…

Steven Spielberg‘s new high-tech $200 million megayacht may be the world’s most expensive yachtcharter, but the 257-ft. TV (pictured above) launched by Lürssen in 2008 isn’t far behind.

Designed by the brilliant Espen Oeino, it’s now available to well-heeled yachtsmen for a cool $5 million a month. With a stunning Alberto Pintor interior the impressive craft was built to entertain a large number of guests with plenty of space for different salons, dining and relaxation areas.

Rare woods combine with dark blue leather upholstery in a pleasing interior scheme. A dedicated spa area expands onto a large fold-down sea terrace which allows said guests to go from a swim to the sauna, on to massage treatments and inside/outside gym activities in “a matter of seconds”. Chief among the TV‘s top drawer touches is a very large owner’s deck with its own Jacuzzi and sunbathing areas, in addition to a helipad which also incorporates a fueling station. The luxe craft can accommodate 12 guests in all along with 25 crew.

twitterfacebookrss YACHTS →The Aga Khan’s $200 Million Superyacht Snafu

29 th March 2011

This is a real strange one- I usually don’t ever post content about yachts but this is different. How can someone spend over $200million dollars for a yacht, that is crazy, it is called a “Super Yacht”

Recently we reported on the impressive racehorses owned by His Highness the Aga Khan, the immensely wealthy Muslim spiritual leader. The urbane Aga Khan, a philanthropist, Harvard graduate and stepson of Hollywood bombshell Rita Hayworth, hasn’t had as much good fortune when it comes to superyachts however. A considerable portion of his $800 million fortune has gone into what is supposed to be the world’s fastest superyacht, but instead is a serious snafu.

The 164-ft. Alamshar (pictured above), named after a prized racehorse, is a $200 million vessel commissioned by His Highness from the UK‘s Devonport, which has now been in build for twelve whole years. Designed to break the transatlantic speed record, her ultra-expensive Rolls-Royce gas turbine engines underperformed and had to be replaced. It also caught on fire a bit. However, the luxurious craft was recently spotted performing sea trials and may one day soon be ready to sail.
