LUXURY WATCHES → Badollet Crystalball Bamboo White Diamond Timepiece 14 th October 2010
Some of you may not have heard of this watch brand but it is “ULTIMATE LUXURY”.
Badollet borrows some lessons from fellow Swiss watch brands for the creation of this marvelous looking luxury tourbillon timepiece. The first influence is Roger Dubuis, who themselves have a few timepieces with “bamboo” scaffolding style skeletonized mechanical movements. Though admittedly, Badollet has done a better job making movement bridges actually look like bamboo (and scaffolding). The combo of the sticks and gears makes for a provocative look. The movement features a flying tourbillon – which is also trendy to combine with ultra minimalistic movements.
According the Badollet, the Calibre BAD5600 movement bridges are cut from high-tech aluminum lithium alloy. While simple, the manually wound movement does have a large mainspring which offers 5 days worth of power reserve. The case of the Crystalball Bamboo watch is 43.2mm tall by 40.2mm wide and done in 18k palladium white gold. According to the brand, customers can order the watch in various case materials and metals such as ceramic, various types of gold, titanium, and even get the case jewel-encrusted or engraved.
Seen here, the case is decorated with 52 baguette diamonds (almost 7 carats), and has a dial that is in white gold with mother-of-pearl inlay. Though in reality the dial region is highly complex and customizable also having optional titanium, enamel, and ceramic elements. With a crocodile strap and lots of customization options, this impressive super-luxury watch can be deemed unisex, but certainly does target preferences seen often in the luxury watch buying habits of the Asian male consumer. I don’t even want to know the price as it will be ludicrously high. Best to just enjoy the visuals in this instance unless you have some spare gold bullion laying around.

LUXURY WATCHES → Franck Muller Mystery Double Four Seasons Watch 12 th October 2010
I was having a conversation with a client about what purchasing a timepiece that isn’t a Cartier or Tag or Rolex and my answer to her was Franck Muller. I love these timepieces so unknown and understated and you have tohave real money to buy one as the starting prices are just silly!
This new women’s watch from Franck Muller called the “Mystery Double Four Seasons” While the name of the watch might be a bad English translation, the beauty of the watch transcends all languages. Its multi-colored precious stones (on the bezel) tell the story of an entire year. Starting with a green spring, moving to the hot yellow colors of the summer, then on to reds of the fall, and finally to the cold blues of the winter. The stones flow on to the lugs, and baguette style stones of all different colors make up the hour markers and with trillion cut stones as the hour and minute hands. The rest of the watch is totally covered in diamonds. The “Mystery Double” (ahem, ‘double mystery’) part of the name comes from the two discs that moves the hour and minute indicator hands, rather than the watch having traditional hands. The watch case is likely to be in white gold, and it has a purple toned alligator strap. Not sure about price, movement, or size, but it is the star of a show on high-end luxury watches and jewelery in Monaco – and this is both of those things – so that should tell you something.

LUXURY WATCHES → Rare James Bond Rolex Chronograph for Sale 5 th October 2010
An extraordinary Rolex pre-Daytona chronograph worn by George Lazenby as James Bond in 1969′s“On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” is being offered for sale in Miami. It’s extremely rare for an actual Bond movie watch, let alone a rare Rolex model, to come onto the market.
The stainless steel timepiece, ref # 6238, has been written about on many 007 fan sites and Rolex blogs. The Rolex was originally purchased by Bond filmmakers EON productions on October 23, 1968 for use by the underrated Lazenby in the film, and was later sold off among other props. It last surfaced at Christie’sFilm and Entertainment sale in London in 2003, where it went for $40,000. Recently acquired byMiami’s Matthew Bain Inc., it’s now being offered at an undisclosed price that could easily reach $250,000 or more.

LUXURY WATCHES → Franck Muller Infinity Ladies Watches For 2010 8 th July 2010
I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday about what was a very good timepiece to buy as an investment and something which is very subtle and under rated. I was telling him that forget the rest buy Franck Muller.
He couldn’t understand why and after sending him links to their site and this blog post lets hope he does!

For men Franck Muller has been focusing on sport and complications, and for women, the focus is all about colorful jewelry watches. Some might even call them fashion pieces – which is a bit of a departure from the avant garde classicism I am used to in Franck Muller designs. Here are some new Infinity and the new Infinity Reka collection pieces (check the gallery below for more of them). The women’s watches are all diamond covered in 18k white gold cases. There are two basic shapes. The tonneau-shaped case that Franck Muller calls “Cintree Curvex” and a new square design for for Infinity Reka. There is also the oval cased version available. The dials come in a variety of styles and colors, with either Arabic or Roman numerals. Dials are mostly high-quality mother-of-pearl from Japan, or just done in more diamonds with lacquer (or maybe enamel) numerals. Case sizes range from about 25 – 50mm wide. As you can see, Franck Muller is really offering an Infinity watch for every woman (just not every budget).

LUXURY WATCHES → Hermes Carré H Watch 5 th July 2010
I am a massive fan of a simple watch and this is just a real cool, gentleman’s watch!

This is the Carré H (or “Square H”). The “H” is for Hermes DUHH. While not distinctly Hermes at first, the gentle curves of the watch and the design slowly start to feel Hermes in spirit. In a steel case, the brand wanted to make a square watch that wasn’t actually square feeling. The dial design is interesting – though not totally original.Though Hermes adds certain elements such as the subsidiary seconds dial that is a circle within a square, and the textured inner dial. Not to large, the case is 36.5 x 36.5mm in size, in steel. Seems like the case has a nice satin, or sand-blasted look to it. The case is slightly curved, and I quite like the look of the bar-style lugs. Very elegant. Inside the watch is a Sowind GP 3200 automatic with Hermes’ signature “H” decoration. It s a lovely piece with a nice level of architected luxury and a timeless good look with out feeling pretentious. The Hermes Carre H watch will be limited to just 173 pieces… a pieces for each year of Hermes’ existence since being founded in of 1837. Priced at about $15,000.

LUXURY WATCHES→ Cartier Roadster S 9 th May 2010

The renowned French jeweler and watchmaker Cartier has recently unveiled a new interpretation of its legendary Roadster watch.
The novel “S” line captures attention by its imposing exterior. The new components, truly individualizing the pieces from the collection, are a straight steel-link bracelet and a black rubber strap, which add up to a timeless design of the watch.
The first variation of the Cartier Roadster S watch features a polished steel case. It is equipped with a steel stylized crown. The new Cartier watch relies on the brand’s proprietary self-winding mechanical movement – Caliber 049. This mechanism serves to animate the functions of indicating hours, minutes, seconds and date, located at 3 o’clock.

The second version of the Roadster S watch is also proposed with a polished steel case. It is fitted with a stylized crown manufactured from the same material. The timepiece is framed by a satin-finished steel bezel covered in ADLC.
The last-mentioned element securely holds the sapphire crystal. Beneath the crystal is anopaline dial, marked with Roman numerals. Pointing to the hours, minutes and seconds are sword-shaped steel hands covered with a luminescent coating.
The new Cartier watch is designed around the manufactory-made self-winding mechanical movement – Caliber 049. It brings to life the functions of hours, minutes, seconds, as well as that of the date at 3 o’clock.
The Cartier Roadster S watch is teamed with an interchangeable black rubber strap, which terminates in an adjustable locking buckle. The watch is submersible to 100 meters.
