LUXURY CARS → Ralph’s cars come to Paris
21 st April 2011

When I read this, the first thing I did was to book my plane ticket to Paris to view this exhibiton.
“I don’t ever think of myself as a collector.” Ralph Lauren could have fooled us, given that the preppy petrolhead designer has amassed a 60-strong classic car collection to rival any in the world. (Sorry, Jay Leno) What’s even more remarkable is that not only are they all restored and drivable but many of them have been subtly improved upon with new paint jobs and interiors in a way unthinkable to purists.
Thankfully for those of us who won’t get the opportunity to visit hisTony Stark-style warehouse just north of New York, the fleet is being exhibited for the first time in Europe at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris from 28 April, as revealed in this video of the only man alive who can work jeans and a tux talking about his passion. “In my mind, they are like parts of me,” he explains. Translation: look but don’t touch.
