twitterfacebookrss LONDON FASHION WEEK→ Tom Ford to show at London Fashion Week

4 th February 2011

As the excitement builds towards London fashion week, the fashion world went into overload as it emerged the very genious in fashion Mr. Tom Ford will be showing his second womenswear collection at London Fashion Week this month.

A spokesman at Tom Ford confirmed the rumour, but said that instead of a show, there “will only be a small presentation for international monthly magazines.” Dates and location are yet to be revealed.

Ford’s presentation in London cements the city’s importance on the fashion week calendar, showing how it’s now a serious rival to New York, Paris and Milan. Its international press-pulling power was bolstered by Burberry’s decision to show in 2009. The luxury brand continues to show in the capital, attracting big-name stars like Emma Watson and Sarah Jessica Parker on the front row.

22 nd September 2010

Last night saw two of the most well known supermodels on this planet both hosting a party on the same night at London Fashion Week. Kate Moss for Longchamp and Naomi Campbell hosted a party to celebrate 25 years in fashion with a party at the Dolce & Gabbana store on Old Bond Street, launching a limited-edition range of T-shirts emblazoned with iconic images from her career as a ‘super’.

twitterfacebookrss FASHION → KATE MOSS X LONGCHAMP

22 nd September 2010

With LFW drawing to a close, there are launch parties happening everywhere in London. The world of fashion and celebrity is in town, so why not get the most publicity out of your brand!

The people at Longchamp did exactly that with them hold ing the most talked about party during fashion week, being the Longchamp Kate moss party!

Kate Moss has kept quite a low profile throughout London Fashion Week, but last night she held the most talked about party and absolutely rocked it.

The model is continuing her collaboration with the luxury retailer and celebrated with a star studded party. Guests included Sadie Frost, Jaime Winstone, David Gandy, Katie Grand, Mario Testino and Roisin Murphy.

Kate’s latest collection includes patchwork versions of the Gloucester bag and shoulder bags with chain detailing.

22 nd September 2010

Burberry’s Christopher Bailey showcased a series of studded leather jackets, quilted leather jodphurs and colourful animal prints at the luxury fashion house’s catwalk at London Fashion Week yesterday.

It seemed this was the hottest ticket of the day by far, fashion elite was present to see Christopher Bailey’s creations for Spring 2011.

Bailey updated Burberry’s iconic trench coat with leather arms and point studded shoulders, referencing the collection’s biker inspiration. Cropped trench coats were also worked with biker details and a python skin jacket was glammed up with gold pointed studs acting like space-age armour over the shoulders and upper arms.

Biker details adorned jodphur-fitted trousers too, with quilting and python trims almost too literal an interpretation.

The worry here was that studded bikers jackets have been and gone so recently, both at the top end of the market and all over the high street, meaning that Burberry offered little in the way of newness for spring 11.

Even the accessories will disappoint Bailey fans, with pointed low-cut shoe boots and super high biker-like courts doing little to inspire and causing a couple of his models to stumble down the catwalk.

Better were Bailey’s use of coloured animal prints over a series of cocktail dresses and tops but even these weren’t enough to put Burberry’s efforts anywhere near the standard of last season’s shearling triumphs.

21 st September 2010

Today sees the final day for womenswear shows and it all kicked off with Jaeger.

Everybody seemed a bit exhausted today with only 2 days to go. This collection, like so many others this week, opened with stark white pieces with asymmetric cut dresses and androgynous blazers. It was inspired by sculptor Rachel Whiteread which explains the architectural tailoring and post modern feel. There was a definite sportswear influence to the collection which came across in parka jackets and paneled knitwear. Practicality was the main focus accessories which included cross body bags and chic leather purses on belts. Many of the looks were also teamed with skinny leather belts and finished off with chunky platform heels.

21 st September 2010

Giles Deacon had to be one of the highlights yesterday at LFW.

Kelly Brook and pregnant WAG Abbey Clancy proved that size zero isn’t the only figure that looks good as they paraded down the runway at Giles Deacon last night.

Until this year Deacon has been showing at the grande dame of fashion weeks in Paris.

But with his return to London, the down-to-earth northerner has obviously decided to go for a more British feel to his show.

Kerry Katona Janice Dickinson

Kerry Katona, poured into a little black dress with her blonde hair scraped into a neat chignon, sat smiling and waving from her front row seat. A few seats along, Janice Dickinsons cowled. From start to finish the show was an explosion of pink.

Giles is a generous and hospitable chap known to extend coveted show invitations to people he simply likes. But last night even his power to transform may have found its limit with the chignoned La Kerry Katona.

All was saved when the last in a series of grand gowns was worn by Verushka, the iconic Yves Saint Laurent model of the 1970s who has enough fashion cred in her twilight years to resurrect to a houseful of WAGs

twitterfacebookrss LONDON FASHION WEEK → Christopher Kane

21 st September 2010

Christopher Kane is someone who uses bright colours always and he must have looked through old collections and thought “let me bring back neon”

it was guaranteed to be a blinding show, as the lights bounced off the first fluoro green punched leather jacket, . The delicate laser-cut holes created a lace look, which was a taste of things to come. Kane paired skirts of green and orange with argyll knit jumpers and twinsets – a nod to his ongoing support of the Scottish wool industry.

A group of highlighter-shade lace and pleated tea dresses followed, which you could imagine on every young starlet on a premiere junket. Then he changed it again by adding in a dragon print element. t, but as the theme continued, dragons emerged both printed and embroidered into lace.

As ever with Christopher Kane, his swing into brights will take a while to settle. While some people declared it his best season, others were unsure. They will, of course, grow to love it, as Christopher Kane always gets us in the end. Expect to be wearing neon by January. Hmm, does that mean that it will be the return of fake tans too?

twitterfacebookrss LONDON FASHION WEEK → Nicole Farhi spring 2011

21 st September 2010

Well this was one of the shows I was really wanting to go to, just purely the love for the brand i have and it would be their first fashion show since French Connection sold Nicole Farhi and everyone waited with baited breath! The elite of the fashion world was in attendance with Anna Wintour wearing Prada front row along side Bill Nighy in an amazing Zegna suit. Also in attendance was Carine Roitfield, Hamish Bowles, Alexandra Shulman and Kate Lamphear.

The atmosphere was electric as soon as Anna Wintour entered the building and what a way for Nicole to return to fashion week!

As you can see Nicole has gone for the metallics look for Spring 11, however  it was all about the eyes backstage at Nicole Farhi as Charlotte Tilbury created this futuristic metallic eye using MAC products. The silver eye looked glossy against the models’ dewy skin, which was teamed with a slightly dishevelled blow-dry courtesy of Sam McKnight. The legendary stylist wanted the girls’ hair to look lived in, not too done.

Welcome Back Nicole!
