twitterfacebookrss TV→ENTOURAGE SEASON 8 EPISODE 8 -THE END :FINALE

12 th September 2011

I don’t think there are any words that can express what joy Entourage has brought to many people across the world, it is amazing to believe that this show has lasted 8 years. Many would argue the past few seasons haven’t been as good as the earlier seasons were, however in the earlier seasons these four guys, four friends were only just boys but in the final few seasons they have really developed their characters into real men and real story lines.

For me the final season Johnny Drama has been outstanding, without a doubt his best work to date, the writers have really developed him into something great and you think to yourself why has it taken such a long time for this to happen!

Many critics feel Entourage should’ve finished with the Season 6 finale, I would have to agree to a certain extent as the finale two years ago succeeded in tying off loose ends without being too saccharine and without jarring the viewer’s heads right off their necks. however the reason why there was two more season’s was because we just love these guys too much and the prospect of seeing the through more adventures was too enticing too pass up but what the final season didn’t have was it was novel, brilliant and hilarious back in the early days.

Sometimes, you get what you ask for a happy ending for all. But I never expected the finish line to feel this cheap and unearned.

twitterfacebookrss EVENTS → SADE @MEN arena

1 st June 2011

Most people who know me, know I live a pretty hectic and crazy life, I am never in the same spot for more than an hour and my blackberry is my life, without it I can’t operate, my life is controlled by one device. Last Friday (24/05/2011) I had the privilege of going to see a real soul legend, the wonderful and delightful Sade.

Sade is so low key it is unbelievable and very rarely tours and even rarer are any media interviews. Trust me I tried and I was told it would be easier to get an invite to the Royal wedding than to have 10minutes with Sade, now that is how low-key this lady is!

Sade

“She still around is she?” someone said, when I said she was coming to the Arena. No Gaga-style gimmicks to keep the hype train going for Sade.

This modern day soul legend made her name when Madonna was still ascending to pop’s throne, with songs as redolent of Rolexes and Filofaxes as they were of bedsits and lonely streets, this is in the 80′s when I was still rolling around in nappies. She then withdrew to the countryside, leaving a 10-year gap between her ‘comeback’ album Lover’s Rock, which has to be probably some of her greatest work and her latest relaease, Soldier Of Love.

This soul singer  last toured in 2001 – which seems to be doing the 50m selling artist good, this gig was sold out and she was playing an arena and not many artists from the 80′s are able to do that in 2011. Her evocative voice, as powerful as it is unique, rises like blue smoke above an audience that welcomes her with thunderous applause.

She needed to get warmed up first, opening the show with Soldier Of Love. Afterwards, a broad smile wreathing her feline features, she said: “It’s been too long, and we have only a short time to make up for all the time we’ve wasted.” For me that was it, I was hooked, her soft voice was mesmerising and she had me and the 10,000 plus others in the arena in the palm of her hands, many of whom have been hooked ever since they first heard a Sade record.

As the set continued with Skin and Love Is Found, the fans were reminded that Sade is not just its eponymous singer, but a great band that effortlessly blends R&B, jazz, reggae, rock and Latin flavours.

A noirish voiceover and video backdrop of moody, neon-lit cityscapes hailed the signature Smooth Operator, with its easy swinging rhythms and sax lines. This marked the point when a good performance became a brilliant one.

Sade’s voice, undimmed by time, soared as she performed Jezebel, the perfect piece for her elegant, aching singing style. In black and white, in the big screen above the stage, she referenced Billie Holiday in a white blouse, working perfectly in tandem with a bluesy, moaning sax. Is It A Crime, which kept building up then returning to a torchy refrain, was another star performance.

Sade

The slender singer has a unique ability to paint pictures with her voice, and although at times the giant video backdrops threatened to dwarf her, they complemented the mood; a stark landscape of bare trees, and the summery snaps that accompanied After All Is Said Done, reflecting the mood.

No Ordinary Love, King Of Sorrow and Pearls also sparkled. Cherish The Day, with its trip-hop pulse, ended a masterclass in making up for lost time, when leaving the arena I looked around and people were walking with a big smile on their face, like they had been privilege to something unique and probably, most likely will never see Sade on UK shores again.

I would highly recommend the new release and also the ultimate collection cd, it has been on constant rewind in my car since Friday. Ms. Sade…. Thank you!

Many thanks to Rob @Sony and Ben @Marshall-Arts

twitterfacebookrss FASHION →212 VIP Launch & CH L’eau by Carolina Herrera

13 th April 2011

Last week on probably what was the hottest day fo the year so far Carolina Herrera a real favourite with the ladies in the office and my missus launched a new perfume called CH L’eau.

Carolina Herrera was in London to celebrate “flower madness” and the arrival of Spring at a special cocktail event hosted by Another website and designed by Simon Costin.   The cocktail party was for specially invited guests  linked with the launch of a new floral fragrance, CH L’Eau and CH Carolina Herrera and a flower-themed accessories line, and was the first event to be staged at the opulent and newly renovated 29 Portland Place in London. As ever we had our eyes and ears to the ground was lucky enough to be there!

Guests including Nicky Haslam, Noelle Reno, and Amber Atherton were treated to a fantastical interior designed by production designer extraordinaire Simon Costin, with sounds from Spanish celebrity DJ Bimba Bose and special London guest Daisy Lowe. Carolina did attend to celebrate the launch of Flower Madness.

The second party was they had was on Friday night to celebrate 212 VIP by Caroline Herrera.

212 VIP will be hosting a series of underground, New York-style club nights in London, with the first being on  Friday 8th April 2011. Once again we were privileged enough to attend the first event at  Adam Street member’s club, chosen for its New York-style, these exclusive pop-up club nights will be bringing a taste of NYC nightlife to London, with legendary DJ Joey Negro, who played the first event!

The new Carolina Herrera fragrance, 212 VIP, takes its inspiration from New York’s most creative people, the real VIP’s, young talents who are writing the future history of the city, people who want to have a good time. The phrase “Are you on the list?” comes from the VIP world, but has nothing to do with money or fame. Getting on the “list” has more to do with having the attitude and the personality. 212 VIP is a fun, festive and floral fragrance that combines style with attitude and hits three essential notes, redolent of nightlife: accords of heady rum and exotic passion fruit, abundant musk and distinguished gardenia and ultra-feminine vanilla and sensual tonka bean. A touch of originality and sophistication.

I really loved this event and they even had a great goody bag, which included the 212 VIP for women in there – the ladies in the office loving that to the max!!!

A series of 212 VIP pop-up clubs will be organized throughout Spring and summer 2011. Watch this space for details of a special night to launch 212 VIP MAN to the UK….

Thanks so much to Olivia Watts at Front Row PR for hooking it all up – Thanks girl!
